Fastest Growing District in the State!

New data released by the U.S. Census Bureau confirms what we already knew…that the Wentzville School District is THE fastest growing school district in the state, and it’s not even close! The number of residents in the District grew by 39,048, or an amazing 121% percent from 2000 to 2010. The total number of residents now living within the WSD attendance area is 71,390! Our District was the fastest growing both in total numbers and in percentage growth. The Independence Public Schools were second in total population growth, adding 25,771 new residents, or 13,277 fewer people than the WSD. The Grain Valley School District was second in percentage growth, at 100%, 21% behind the WSD and the only other District in the state to experience triple digit growth.

A big part of that increase came from the City of Wentzville which added over 22,000 people during the past decade and grew by a whopping 322%, the largest percentage increase of any city in the state. The third fastest growing city at 162% was Dardenne Prairie. In fact the five communities that are either entirely or partially within the Wentzville School District boundary are Wentzville, Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, Foristell and Dardenne Prairie, and all five are in the top 50 fastest growing communities (out of 637) in Missouri!
