On July 1, 2011, Missouri House Bill 922 “Allergy Prevention and Response in Schools” went into effect and required that all school districts in the state implement a policy addressing how to prevent potentially deadly food-borne allergies. In response to that requirement, the Wentzville School District Board of Education approved Allergy Policy #2875.  In keeping with the new law, the District policy requires that all food items brought into and served in our schools have the ingredient label and nutritional information on file in the Child Nutrition Office.  This policy does not pertain to the food a child brings in for his/her own lunch or snack.  However, District staff will be enforcing a “No Share, No Trading Policy” in each of our buildings.

Parents can obtain a “Nutritional Information Submittal Form” from their child’s teacher, school office or the cafeteria.  The form can also be found on the District website; www.wentzville.k12.mo.us under the Child Nutrition Department. We ask that you submit the form two weeks prior to the date you plan to provide the food or snack. You will be contacted by the Child Nutrition Department as to whether or not the food items are approved.

We realize this is a significant change in policy that is a potential inconvenience for our parents and employees. We appreciate your patience in the implementation of the policy which has the safety and well-being of all our students in mind. If you have any questions about the policy, feel free to contact your building principal or our Director of Child Nutrition, Susan Raster who can be reached at (636) 327-3858, ext. 21325.
