The passage of Proposition 3 in 2011 generated approximately $40 million for the construction of phase one of Liberty High School, and it was designed to provide for the educational needs of up to 1,200 students. It includes classroom and lab space, commons and cafeteria, space for band and choir, gym and locker rooms, and football field, baseball and softball fields.
District communication listed “Phase one of a third high school” as one of the items the bond issue would pay for during the WSD Proposition 3 campaign in the 2010-11 school year. All of our new schools that have been built in the past 10 years have been constructed in phases, because it gives the District the flexibility to add classrooms to keep up with the demands of our enrollment growth.
Passage of Proposition E in 2014 would generate funds for the construction of phase two of Liberty High School. According to enrollment projections in a demographic study released this year by Business Information Services, LLC, Enrollment at Liberty High School will exceed 1,200 students by the 2016-17 school year. Phase two will include up to 20 additional classrooms, an auditorium and a practice gym. In the attached floor plans of Liberty High School the phase two expansion areas are indicated in green.
